Short Description This is our second discussion, and its focused is on coping with the psychological trauma of systematic racism the Black community and people of color have to deal with each day: also, as it pertains to the pandemic. In this first discussion, we talked about how systematic racism has become a mental health problem in the black community because it’s inter-generational from the days of slavery. Affecting not only American born blacks but also immigrants from Africa and other countries. This continues to present tensions and barriers of acceptance as equal citizens (human beings). The goal of this event is to acknowledge the exacerbated tensions we experience, COVID-19 playing a part as we cope through the struggles of acceptance, healing mentally, physically, spirituality, and our identity. We hope to provide suggestions for coping through these struggles, therefore, we have two experts from the field of experience and knowledge: Dr. Omar Reid, a Clinical Psychology; and Author & Dr. Abdifatah Ahmed, a Doctor of Pharmacy.
